Build story
Bought the 78 Bronco without a motor, put the 460 in it, loved it but couldn't afford to drive it and it was very unreliable. I have a very deep rooted hatred for gas engines for such reasons and a passion for CAT engines, especially the more difficult ones that many people tend to struggle with.
I had previously put a 3116 in a 74 F250 and it was entirely too much power for the truck. As fun as that truck was it ate axles for lunch, so I decided that 1/3 of that power and weight would be ideal for my Bronco.
I sold the F250 and bought a very difficult to find 4 cylinder counterpart to the 3116.
Since finishing the project in 2014 it has been my most reliable and cheapest to drive vehicle. It gets abused almost daily around the ranch and has a terrible life but has held up remarkably well.
