Yanked out a perfect working 3.6 pentastar and swapped in the vw 2.0 TDI diesel with 149,000 kms and 6 speed manual.Has stage 2 Malone and less exhaust resistance but stock caravan muffler.
Build story
My third vw diesel swapped caravan. First was a 95 van with 1.6 diesel in 2001. Is still working.My second , 8 years ago 2002 caravan with a vw TDI alh motor and 5 speed.Still working. My third a 2011 Grand Caravan with a 2011 vw jetta 2.0 TDI common rail 6 speed manual.I used all the vw motor mounts with 2 spacers to lower the engine.Did this 2.5 years ago. Has been infinitely dependable.Took about 160 hours.Accellerates faster than the 3.6 v6.Has 165 wheel HP and @295 wheel tourque at less than 2000 rpm's.Fuel economy for each van is 5 litres per 100 k or 55 mpg to a canadian gallon or 47 mpg to usa gallon. Equals 1,400 kms highway to a tank or 900 miles per tank.Runs at 1,600 rpms at 100k.This van loves to go fast!Feels like driving a factory made van.So quiet inside and out without vibration.
