Before its first bath. It looks slightly better clean.
Hoisting body off the old chassis
Front suspension fabrication
Hauling it ti HazzardFab Works for frame and rear axle mods
Rear lengthened and widened
Crossmembers to support the body. Keeping it as low as possible created a lot of fab work. In the end there is no suspension lift, 35” tires with 19” front travel. Big sway bar on the rear, corners like a car and smashes thru the potholes. Speed bumps are nearly imperceptible at any speed. Till the rear tires hit it….
Firewall work. Maintained stock rads, created significant headache trying to fit it all.
Engine piping.
Cockpit
Insulated and hydronically heated 50 gal water tank.Held low by the frame, not inside the body. Keeping center of gravity low.
Foam core panels. Floor system probably weighs 150 lbs total. And super stiff.
Mirror adapters, milled with hand mill and belt sander. Turned out good and work great.
Spray foam.
Tire carrier and trailer hitch

Mods

Lengthened the frame 36”, widened the rear axle and leaf spring mounts by 9”, replaced front suspension with Kibbetech long travel kit. Replaced the body with a ’74 Airstream Argosy body.

Build story

We wanted a 4x4 motorhome for biking and boarding, everything on the market sucked or cost way too much, so I told my wife it would be no big deal to make one. Been pecking away at it for 7 years or so. Fantastic to drive, fast, capable, still has some bugs to work out and I need to finish outfitting it. Burrito 2.0 gets the Edison hybrid drivetrain.
