Hand built steering wheel\r
1950's Villiers 80cc 2 Stroke mower engine swap
Build story
Hand built in 1967 by legendary mechanic Alan Roberts, only one ever built. Fully hand bent frame using only sand, oxy and brute strength. Hand formed body panels, cutom stainless mesh grille with badge donated from a Lotus 7. Steering wheel was also hand made out of timber and a single sheet of steel. Origianlly made with disc brakes but they were removed in 1968 to allow more leg room for the 6 yr old driver. \r
\r
Rear engined, belt driven, custom short exit exhaust (for more noise at higher revs). Absolutely thrashed from 1967 to 1974 (no one could fit in it by that stage). Lay dormant until 2003 when it underwent a full restoration, and was converted from semi pneumatic tyres to fully pneumatic tyres as well as engine mounts refabricated to do away with broken cast iron mount. After nearly 30 years in storage a replacement spark plug lead was all that was needed for the motor to fire first go. Still runs to this day. \r

Rumor has it that with a 4 yr old at the wheel it could reach speeds of up to 50mph with the hand throttle at full send. Unfortunately once again no one currently fits, but when fired up it still creates the same child like thrill that it did back in 1967. \r
\r
Current status: - Driveable (if you fit)\r
- Brakes? Who needs brakes when you're \r
5 yrs old?\r
