Build story

This truck is somewhere between a build and just keeping it road worthy. Since I was a kid Ive had a fascination with military surplus vehicles. I would spend hours researching, watching videos, and scouring craigslist to try and find one I could afford. Two years ago this one popped up not far from me, went to go check it out and ended up coming home with it later that week. Quickly figured out when the fuel gauge says you have a quarter tank you best find fuel quick. It has the Hercules 465 multifuel with the classic whistler turbo, spicer 5 speed, 3 Rockwell 2.5 ton axles, and all three have power going to them. Ol zip tie’s slave lake would be proud cause she will run on just about anything. Since then I’ve been slowly getting the basic maintenance back on track. From basic fuel filters, oil change, and 2 tubes of grease to up grading the tires, lights, and ditching the 80 pound generator for an alternator. But of course there’s a long road ahead to getting it where it needs to be, replacing every rubber line, wheel cylinders and axle seals to start. Planning on installing a winch but I’m torn between a factree pto driven or a more modern electric winch, because either way your buddies toyota isn’t getting this pig un-stuck. She’s loud, thirsty, and takes all your money.
