Build story
Before the diesel craze, I decided that I wanted to daily drive a 70's dentside Ford (best looking truck ever made), but I could not afford the gas. I devised a plan to build an efficient four wheel drive truck with a heavy duty drivetrain.\r
\r
I pulled the original 1977 F150 two wheel drive truck out of the woods in New York State. It was a half taken apart basket case project that was destined for the junk yard. I mounted the cab on a 1997 Dodge 2500 frame (not because it was easy, but because I had it laying around). Finally, I added the 3.9 4BT Cummins, ZF-5, and Borg Warner 1356 T-case.\r
\r
I made every mount, every linkage, and all aspects of this truck from the ground up using basic tools, a torch, and a welder. I combined multiple parts from multiple manufactures to make it all work. And, It works very well.\r
\r
After 10+ years, I have put close to 150,000 miles on this truck, and I continue to drive it every day. It has modern brakes, modern suspension, an efficient drivetrain (25+ MPG), and pulls off the old stock farm truck look.
