Build story
Got my 98 trooper right out of high school in the summer of 2009. 1998 -2002 Troopers are known as the 2.5 gen, and mine has a manual transmission, which are very hard to come across for these later models. It's actually my second trooper and second car I've ever owned. For awhile it was just my dependable little 4x4 that I used to commute across New Mexico while I was in school. It didn't take long for me to start wrenching on it. Started with 31s and a 2 inch lift. After breaking CVs and tearing boots left and right the build just got more advanced from there. The diff drop in the front was probably the most useful mod I've done, keeps the front CV axles straight with all the lift I've added. The manual hubs gave me back a few more MPGs, and reduces wear on the front end. And so much more.\r
Most recently I've added the very very rare Apline Supercharger kit, which is a custom intake manifold developed by a company called Alpine, and it allows an Eaton M62 supercharger to be bolted on to the stock engine. It makes around 5 lbs of boost on the stock tune, and around 50-60 more horsepower from what I've researched. It makes the world of difference with the 33 inch tires (stock size is 29 inch). \r
My Trooper has been on YouTube for over 10 years now! I have many many more videos on my channel, detailing my mods and cool adventures I've taken it on. I have so much more planned for the Trooper, but I work on it when I can. I have two other project cars now. But nothing will ever beat the Trooper for me. It's been there for me at times in my life when I had nothing else. \r
