1994 Chev 3500 4x4 front-end, 1999 Chev Tahoe back-end of frame, Cummins 12-valve, GM 4L80E tranny US Shift standalone trans controller, 35” tall tires with 8-bolt wheels.

Build story

An eight plus month project to convert a running stock 2004 Cadillac Escalade, to a 1-ton esCalade with a 12-valve Cummins. Started project by fabricating a 1-ton chassis using front-half frame of a 1994 Chevy 3500 1-ton 4 x 4 truck and back-half frame from 1999 Chevy Tahoe, with 1-ton springs. Overloads grafted and suspended on the rear frame and holding the 14 bolt rear axles with 3:73 axle ratio. \r
My first engine swap of the original motor was a Cummins 4BT out of a bread van. Desire to roll more coal, prompted a second engine swap, to a 12-valve Cummins out of first-generation Dodge truck. Swap included using a GM 4L80E transmission with purchased adapter plate. All other mounts are homebuilt. Numerous Summit Racing parts used in this project, including fluid dampener for engine smoothness. No body lifts! No suspension lifts! Due to opposite frame mount structures, able to fit 35-inch-tall tires with 8-lug wheels. \r
Vehicle primarily used for hauling snowmobiles and other trailering adventures. This Beast driven daily going on 6 years, in which, the last 3 years have been burning 50-50 ratio of waste motor oil (black diesel). \r
