Mostly stock matching numbers 396 big block, 30 thou over pistons, comp cam and springs with a custom made twin 2.5 inch stainless exhaust that dumps at the diff.
Electrodigical ignition conversion.
Lowered suspension.
15 inch steel wheels, big tyres. Thinking of trying to make the Factree 14 inch Caprice hub caps fit as they look pretty snazzy.

Build story

The perfect Zombie apocalypse survival vehicle. Or going to town rig.

Imported from California to Melbourne Australia in 2016, arrived here on my wifes birthday. Perfect.

Car was a complete basket case but it was an original running driving example and it is hard to find a really well optioned original big block impala 4 door hardtops these days. Especially a Tuxedo black one with the caprice trim.

Im pretty sure a tree or a barn had fallen on it, with all the dents on the roof and hood. Even the dashboard was badly dented although the windshield was new, broken glass was found inside the interior.

It had been parked in the 70s. revived around 2015 with only news tyres and a master cylinder replaced. Nothing else was done until now.

Been slowly rebuilding it over the last few years now due to full weight reduction completely rusty floors, badly leaking engine and transmission sweating too much horsepower.
It was pretty rough all over when it arrived and had massive exhaust leaks, so of course we instantly had no regrets on this almost sight unseen purchase when it fired up for the first time here in Australia.

What could possibly go wrong anyway?

AC delco parts used through out where possible and the whole chassis is like new on the undeside, while the factree Tuxedo black patina will remain. Its never been painted!

Its currently a mostly complete running driving car again but needs the new black interior fitted before it can hit the streets and increase the local neighbours property prices.
