This glorious beast of a Gambler 500 rig sits on a 3 inch Paco Motorsports lift kit, Maxpeeding Rods fully adjustable Coilovers, Diamond Racing Wheels, 27 inch Maxxis Buckshot 2 mud tires, and sports a completely custom grill and racecar flip front end from a 76 MGB roadster. Its bone stock. Its leaky. The roll bar is a suggestion at best. A bunch of things don#039;t work. Fortunately everything that puts a smile on the faces of kids, adults, and especially the driver is in working order. The MGBeast is the epitome of the saying &Its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow,& and I cannot wait to put it through its paces on a rally course soon.
Build story
This build is the culmination of my friend James at Low Buck Garage wanting a British roadster, and my serious (possibly concerning) obsession with lifted Miatas. Anyone who has seen the Jessi Combs Miata that Gambler 500 founder Tate Morgan drives will understand. I agreed to take over the build from James after he fabricated the front end on the stipulation that I paint it British Racing Green and drive it, and I definitely drive the hell out of it. After a 1 day paint job in a chicken coop on James property, I cannonballed it more than 1400 miles on no sleep from Las Cruces, New Mexico to a Gambler 500 event in Southern Indiana. I failed tech at the HooptieX race track, and at stock height it was no good off-road. There was only one logical thing to do at that point- build it into an all out racing hooptie with a lift and big, knobby tires! After a lift, new suspension parts, clearancing with a hammer, and some Facebook Marketplace scores were bolted on, I had myself the worlds only fake British roadster/trophy truck. Id like to think this glorious pile is well worth your votes, at least for a laugh. For the time and money invested, were having maximum fun on a minimum budget!
