Build story
8.0L V10 310hp/455tq, 47RE, Dana 60/70, 4:10 gears, limited slip.
I acquired this peach from a farmer who beat it half to death. He sold it because it wouldn't start, after I connected a ground cable, it fired to life. I swapped a new bed on it and had to replace every single brake line on the truck then drove it home with no exhaust. (the farmer had cut the cats off.)
After getting it home, I drove it here and there, but just couldn't deal with how bad the body was, it was a lot worse than it looked. The original bed looked like the farmer tried to load a boulder into it, but instead of putting it IN the box, it looked like he tried slamming it through the bedside... Then, realizing his mistake, he must've picked it up and dropped it from higher, because the front bulkhead was pushed forward hard enough to cave the back of the cab in.
I picked up a '99 1500 donor, and decided to swap the better body on, being a 5 speed cab, I still have to push the clutch in to start it, because gen-z anti-theft...
Once the swap was done, the truck has since gotten (deep breath) 2 1/2" Leveling kit, Rough Country N2.0 shocks, track bar, new steering, full dual exhaust (on the quieter side because V10's sound like ass) new manifold gasket, rear wheel cylinders, shoes, wheel seal, master cylinder, shift linkage bushings, alternator, a/c compressor (it works!), dash skin and 285/75R16 Thunderer Ranger AT/R's.
It may seem like a lot of work, but I have less than $2500 total (original purchase, donor purchase, all parts & tires) into this truck that can run and tow alongside a stock 2nd gen 24 valve. The only downside is that it gets battleship fuel economy.
Future plans are to make the body nice and paint it.
